On June 22, 2025, hours after the United States strikes on Iranian nuclear sites (Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan) using Northrop B-2 Spirit aircraft and GBU-57 “bunker buster” bombs, US President Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social account, "It’s not politically correct to use the term, “Regime Change,” but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change??? MIGA!!!"[1] (MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN) This slogan is taken from Donald Trump's campaign slogan in the 45th and 47th US presidential elections, titled MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.
This is the first time a US president has spoken about regime change in Iran.
This slogan was previously used by Reza Pahlavi, the son of the deposed Shah of Iran, who was overthrown by the Islamic Revolution in 1979, in an interview with Larry Kudlow on Fox News on June 20, 2025[2], a week after the start of the Iran-Israel war.
Reza Pahlavi is the most significant alternative to the regime in the event of a potential change in Iran.
