Draft:Lukas dragicevic
Lukas Dragicevic (born April 25, 2005) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing within the Seattle Kraken organization of the National Hockey League (NHL). Known for his offensive instincts, elite skating, and puck-moving ability, Dragicevic played his junior hockey in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Tri-City Americans and later the Prince Albert Raiders. He was selected 57th overall by the Seattle Kraken in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
Early life
[edit]Dragicevic was born in Richmond, British Columbia. He grew up in a hockey-oriented family; his father, Milan Dragicevic, played and coached professionally. Lukas played minor hockey with the Delta Hockey Academy, where he stood out as a high-IQ, mobile defenceman with strong offensive upside.[1]
Playing career
[edit]Junior
[edit]Dragicevic made his WHL debut with the Tri-City Americans during the shortened 2020–21 season. He became a full-time player in 2021–22 and broke out in the 2022–23 season, scoring 75 points (15 goals, 60 assists) in 68 games, making him one of the WHL’s top-scoring defencemen that year.[2][3]
In July 2024, he was traded to the Prince Albert Raiders in a multi-player deal.[4] With the Raiders, Dragicevic continued to log heavy minutes and play in all situations.
NHL Draft and professional debut
[edit]Dragicevic was selected 57th overall by the Seattle Kraken in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.[5] He signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Kraken later that summer.[6]
In the 2024–25 season, he joined the Coachella Valley Firebirds, Seattle’s AHL affiliate, and began transitioning to the professional game.[7]
International play
[edit]Dragicevic represented Canada at the 2023 IIHF U18 World Championship, contributing offensively and helping the team to a strong finish.[8][9]
He also played in the 2023 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.[10]
Playing style
[edit]A modern two-way defenceman, Dragicevic is known for his skating, puck movement, and offensive awareness. He is especially effective on the power play and excels at leading breakouts. While still refining his defensive play, he is regarded as a high-upside prospect with top-four NHL potential.[11][12]
