Draft:Long & McQuade

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Long & McQuade is the largest chain of musical instrument stores in Canada . [ 1 ]

The store first opened in 1956 on Carleton Street in Toronto as a small shop on the second floor of a residential building, which later became a recording studio . The owner, Jack Long, was a professional trumpet player who started out selling instruments to his friends and also ran trumpet lessons there.

Six months later, he rented one of the rooms in the building to a drummer named Jack McQuaid to teach and train the instrument.

In 1957, the two decided to open a musical instrument store on Young Street . The partnership lasted until 1965, when Jack McQuaid decided to focus on drum training and sold his share of the store to his partner.

The store's economic development and prosperity began in 1968 and now has more than 79 stores across Canada. Since 2000, an online store has also been added to the collection.

Long & McQuaid employs 1,300 musicians and about 1,000 music teachers, and is 100% owned by the Long family.

Long & McQuaid is affiliated with and has a partnership with Yorkville Sound (a manufacturer of public address systems , loudspeakers , guitar amplifiers , and amplifiers). [ 2 ]

The company's founder, Jack Long, is still active in the day-to-day operations of the company, running it with the help of his three children. [ 3 ]
