The judging panel of the Balgyeon Literary Award—comprising Lee Byung-ryul, Choi Seo-jin, and Hwang Hak-ju—remarked: "The total amount of sorrow an individual must bear is measured and defined by social oppression and others, yet the poet's declaration of love carries responsibility and free will, standing dignified amidst suffering."[12]
