Laura Díaz is a Dominican actress based in Los Angeles, California. She gained prominence after winning the acting reality show De la Calle al Cine in 2013, which led to her debut role as Ana in the feature film ¿Quién manda? (Who’s the Boss?).[1] The film was the Dominican Republic's official submission to the 86th Academy Awards and was the most nominated film at the 2014 Premios Soberano, where Díaz was nominated for Best Actress.[2]
Early Life and Education
[edit]Originally from the Dominican Republic, Díaz moved to New York after her breakout role to further her acting education. She trained at Michael Howard Studios and worked on university short films. She also attended a notable acting workshop led by Dominican actor Frank Perozo.[3]
Career
[edit]Díaz began her acting career in 2013 after winning the televised acting competition De la Calle al Cine. Her victory secured her a lead role in ¿Quién manda?, directed by Ronni Castillo.[4] Her performance earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the Premios Soberano.
