History

[edit]

LS AUTO was founded in 2022 in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, as part of a joint investment project between Shanghai Launch Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. and Jingdezhen Hesheng Industrial Investment Development Co., Ltd. The project aimed to establish a new electric vehicle brand based on an in-house NEV platform. The total investment amounted to approximately 5 billion yuan.[2]

Shanghai Launch Automotive Technology Co., Ltd., the parent company, was established in 2000 and is involved in automotive research and development. It provides services including design, prototyping, and testing, and has delivered over 200 development projects.[3] Launch operates several R&D and manufacturing bases, a design center in Italy, and a transportation technology center in Singapore. It was recognized in 2015 by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a national industrial design center.[4] In 2021, it received the "Little Giant" designation for small and medium-sized innovative enterprises.[5]
