Krishen Iyer is an American business consultant specializing in insurance technology, marketing, finance, build-to-sell, and data-driven business strategies. He founded MAIS Consulting most recently, a firm focused on insurance distribution and digital marketing solutions as well as venture capital. Iyer has been recognized for his work in the Inc. 5000 list and has founded multiple companies in the insurance and financial services sector.[1][2]

Early life and education

[edit]

Iyer graduated from San Diego State University (SDSU) with a bachelor's degree. During his youth, he played in many sports as well as alternative sports, yet his passion was soccer. He competed in national and international soccer tournaments and was part of the Youth Olympic Development Team. He also won a California state championship in youth wrestling.

Career

[edit]

Iyer began his professional career in the insurance industry. In 2001, he founded American Health Solutions while attending SDSU. The company grew and in 2009 was renamed and branded as NMP Insurance Services, LLP, a California-based insurance sales and marketing company that later appeared on the Inc. 5000 list.

He subsequently co-founded Managed Benefit Services, an insurance marketing and distribution company. In 2019, Iyer established MAIS Consulting, a La Jolla-based firm specializing in health insurance technology and strategic consulting for insurance companies. The company received its first round of financing in 2022 to expand access to Affordable Care Act insurance plans. Iyer has extensive experience in his 24-year career across nearly all sectors of the health insurance and finance-related industries.

[edit]

Iyer has participated in philanthropic activities, including work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He co-founded a pet-related charity organization with his daughter. He recently formed a 501(c)(3) nonprofit company, 4 Humans INC. This company kicks off its first gala and celebration in October.
