Plot

Complicating matters, Sarita’s father and Mahesh’s father were once close friends who bonded over alcohol, a habit that spiraled into addiction for Mahesh’s father. Unable to break free from it, he took his own life, leaving Mahesh’s mother to hold Sarita’s father responsible for her husband’s downfall. She vehemently opposes the union of Mahesh and Sarita, a sentiment echoed by the entire village. The community turns hostile, determined to punish Mahesh for defying tradition. One day, Sarita’s father, consumed by anger, joins the villagers in a brutal attack, beating Mahesh to death. Overwhelmed by despair, Sarita resolves to end her life, and in a tragic twist, Mahesh, though already dead in the narrative, is imagined as joining her in spirit as she succumbs to hopelessness.
