Synopsis of Kartiker Biye
[edit]Kartik comes to stay with his Pishi Ma who is childless and whose miser husband dies a sudden death. Pishi Ma has brought up her brother-in-law’s son, Dibbo, like her own, and takes care of his property waiting for him to return, so that she can handover his property to him. Keshav Halder is a greedy man who stands in elections and has borrowed a large sum from Pishi Ma. Pishi Ma sends Kartik to ask him to return the amount. Kartik visits Keshav’s daughter, Rajani, who is a doctor and tells her about her father’s debts. Kartik falls in love with Rajani and she reciprocates the same. Tribhuvan Maharaj advises Pishi Ma to donate all the property to the sadhus and make ashrams but she denies saying that the property is not hers. So he disguises one of his pupils as Dibbo for whom Pisima has been waiting so long. Keshav Halder convinces Pishi Ma to get his daughter, Rajani, married to Dibbo. Kartik and Rajani are upset with this. On the other hand, the pupil who is disguised as Dibbo sees the unconditional love of Pishi Ma and does not want the plan of Tribhuvan Maharaj to succeed. So the sadhu reveals all the truth to Pishi. He forces the lady to sign the property papers and there is a huge fight. The pupil dies in this fight. Pishi Ma gets Kartik and Rajani’s marriage fixed and they get happily married. There is comedy induced at regular intervals by Kartik’s friends who meet at a football club. Dipu da, who is the owner of the club, also plays an important role in helping Kartik along with Kartik’s friends who do not let him fall apart in problems. The songs are romantic. All in all, this is a complete entertainer.
