Kaius Vun is a youth advocate from Hong Kong, currently studying in Eton College.[1] He has published two books and raised significant funds for notable causes, such as for COVID-19 emergency relief in 2020.[2] He is also part of the UNICEF UK's Youth Advisory Board.[3][4]

Advocacy work

[edit]

During lockdown in 2020, Kaius and his brother Karsten co-wrote a memoir named 'Tales and Adventures from Hong Kong'.[5] They used the funds to raise £20,000 for the Oxford Hospitals Charity, to support COVID-19 treatment.[2][6]

Dr Bruno Holthof, CEO of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust comments:[7]

We are incredibly grateful to them for putting their lockdown time to such creative use and for wanting to help the patients and staff in our hospitals.

Douglas Graham, CEO of the Oxford Hospitals Charity adds:

What an inspiration the boys are! Donations like this, especially during the pandemic, make such a difference to our hospitals (...) to make sure patients get the extra help they need.

In 2023, Kaius published a novel 'Project Viro'.[8] He used sales to raise HK$100,000 for charities, including for UNHCR UK and UNICEF UK in order to help victims of the Turkïye-Syria Earthquake. His donation to the Dragon School awarded him a Donor Pin.[9]

Kaius is a part of the 8-member UNICEF UK Youth Advisory Board (2023 - 2025),[3] in which he is particularly interested in issues of Mental Health[3]. His work includes being part of the chief executive recruitment process.[10] He is credited in the UNICEF UK Annual Report 2023.[11] Other members include the British food activist Dev Sharma.[3]

Personal life

[edit]

Kaius is also an avid filmmaker[12] and a micro social media influencer. He documents film challenges on his self-titled channel.[1] Kaius Shorts posts short-form Minecraft videos and has over 33K combined followers (YouTube [14.7K] and TikTok [17.9K]).

The boys wanted to use their time to do something fun and productive, so created their very own book, called 'Tales and Adventures from Hong Kong', complete with their own fantastic illustrations. And to top it all they have raised an incredible £20,000 which is being shared amongst some special causes, including our very own Oxford Hospitals Charity. 12 year old year old Karsten and 10 year old Kaius both go to the Dragon School in Oxford, but returned home to Hong Kong for the lockdown. While there, they thought a lot about the important work being done in hospitals and laboratories back in Oxford, and decided they wanted to do something to make a difference. This week they came along to Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to learn how their donation will help patients and staff in our hospitals. What superstars!
