Joseph Richard Parson Meikle (March 22, 1934 – November 8, 2001) was a Mexican-American businessman and agricultural entrepreneur, best known as the founder of Pavos Parson, a pioneering company in the turkey industry in Mexico. His innovative work in the raising, processing, and commercialization of turkey and turkey products transformed the poultry sector in the country and established international trade relations.

Early Life and Background

Joseph Richard Parson Meikle was born on March 22, 1934. Of Mexican-American heritage, Parson Meikle developed a strong interest in agriculture and livestock from a young age, eventually founding a business that helped reshape the poultry industry in Mexico.

Career and Pavos Parson

In the mid-20th century, Parson Meikle founded Pavos Parson in Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua. The company specialized in the raising, processing, and distribution of turkey and turkey-based products across Mexico. His efforts helped popularize turkey consumption in the country and modernize its production practices.

Under his leadership, Pavos Parson became a national brand and began exporting to countries such as Japan and Chile, marking it as one of the few Mexican agricultural businesses with international reach at the time.

Legacy

Parson Meikle is recognized as an illustrious figure in the city of Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, where the company’s headquarters are located. His contributions to agriculture and regional development are remembered in the local community.

He died on November 8, 2001.
