Jordan Traylor (born 1993) is an American football coach who is the assistant offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). Traylor joined the Vikings in 2025 after spending six seasons with the New Orleans Saints, serving in various roles on both the coaching and scouting staff.
Coaching career
[edit]Traylor began his coaching career at the University of Texas in 2016 as an offensive graduate assistant, working with quarterbacks and wide receivers. He held that role for two seasons before moving to Arkansas in 2018, where he served as an offensive analyst focusing on quarterbacks.
In 2019, Traylor joined the New Orleans Saints as a scouting assistant, a role he held for two seasons before being promoted to the coaching staff in 2021. Initially a defensive assistant, Traylor worked on the Saints’ defense for two seasons before transitioning to the offensive side of the ball in 2023. That year, he worked with the tight ends as an offensive assistant, and in 2024, he was promoted to assistant quarterbacks coach[1]
During his time in New Orleans, Traylor was praised for his versatility and football acumen, earning increased responsibilities each year.
In 2025, Traylor was selected to coach the National Team quarterbacks at the Senior Bowl, highlighting his growing reputation as a rising star in coaching circles.[2]
On March 3, Traylor was hired by the Minnesota Vikings as the team’s assistant offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under head coach Kevin O'Connell. He replaced Grant Udinski, who left to become the offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Traylor’s rapid rise in the coaching ranks has drawn praise across the league, and he is viewed as a future candidate for an offensive coordinator role.[3]
Playing career
[edit]Traylor played high school football at Gilmer High School in Texas, where he was a quarterback and wide receiver. He began his collegiate career at Mississippi College (2012–2013)[4] before transferring to Texas A&M University (2014–2015), where he played quarterback and earned Academic All-SEC honors.[5]
Personal life
[edit]Traylor is a native of Gilmer, Texas. He is the son of Jeff Traylor, the head football coach at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Jordan comes from a football family and has quickly established himself as a promising young coach at both the college and professional levels.
