Jon Lor is an American-born Chinese entrepreneur and creative strategist based in Bangkok, Thailand. He is currently the managing director of Wonderfruit and the country manager for Riot Games Thailand, overseeing the publishing and community growth of titles such as League of Legends, Valorant, and Teamfight Tactics. He is also the CEO of Asiola, a crowdfunding platform focused on creative and social projects in Thailand.
Early Career
[edit]Lor began his career in marketing and technology, working with agencies such as Ogilvy & Mather in New York. He led strategy and planning for IBM Software Global and oversaw digital acquisition and UX for clients like BMW North America and Polo Ralph Lauren.[1]
Entrepreneurship
[edit]In 2010, Lor founded Sandbox Global, a social and mobile gaming studio in Thailand. In 2014, he launched Asiola, where he serves as CEO. The platform supports artists, creators, and changemakers in bringing community-driven projects to life through reward-based crowdfunding.[2]
Riot Games Thailand
[edit]In 2023, Lor was appointed as the Country Manager for Riot Games Thailand. In this role, he has been instrumental in localizing Riot's offerings to resonate with Thai players. Under his leadership, Riot Games announced that Bangkok would host the VALORANT Masters 2025, marking the first time this prestigious tournament would be held in Southeast Asia. Lor emphasized that hosting the event in Bangkok is a significant achievement for Thai players and fans, highlighting the country's growing prominence in the global esports arena.[3]
Lor has also championed Riot's hyper-localization strategy in Thailand. This includes the introduction of the "DRIFT" map in VALORANT, inspired by Thai culture, architecture, and music. The map showcases elements such as traditional Thai houses, floating markets, and local landmarks, aiming to provide Thai players with a more immersive experience.[4]
Furthermore, Lor has articulated Riot Games' vision to position Thailand as a central hub for esports in Southeast Asia. He has highlighted the country's robust gaming community and the company's commitment to nurturing local talent through tournaments and events.[5]
Wonderfruit
[edit]As Managing Director of Wonderfruit, Lor has overseen the festival’s evolution into a global cultural event emphasizing sustainability, music, art, and innovation. He has been instrumental in launching Wonderfruit’s Web3 ticketing system, which added layers of digital rewards and utility for attendees.[6] In 2024, he announced a partnership with Generator to introduce a new boutique camping experience aimed at solo travelers and creative communities. [7]
Personal Life
[edit]In 2020, Lor became engaged to Singaporean actress Ase Wang. The couple registered their marriage in Bangkok later that year.[8]
