Submission declined on 11 March 2025 by Sophisticatedevening (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. Declined by Sophisticatedevening 3 months ago. | ![]() |

Jesus M Cortes is a Spanish neuroscientist and physicist, renowned for his contributions to computational neuroimaging and brain connectivity research.
Born in 1976 in Tàrrega, Catalonia, Spain, he earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Granada,[1] achieving the distinction of "Doctor Europeus" and receiving the Extraordinary Doctorate Award in Experimental Sciences for the 2004/2005 academic year.
He is a full professor at Ikerbasque[2] who has held postdoctoral positions in the Netherlands, the USA, and the UK, working under the mentorship of prominent figures such as Prof. Bert Kappen, Prof. Terry Sejnowski, and Prof. Mark van Rossum. He was also a Ramón y Cajal Fellow in Spain.
In 2012, he founded the Computational Neuroimaging Lab[3] at the Biocruces-Bizkaia Health Research Institute[4] in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain, where he continues to serve as head. Additionally, he is a Research Professor at the University of the Basque Country, teaching courses on neuroimaging and brain connectivity in biomedical engineering.
His research focuses on applying statistical and computational methods to neuronal data, with a particular interest in brain connectivity in both healthy and pathological conditions, as well as the application of machine learning strategies to biomedical datasets.
