Jaymeet Manishbhai Patel (born 17 May 2002) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Gujarat in domestic cricket. He is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm medium pace bowler. Patel made his first-class debut during the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy season.
Early life
[edit]Jaymeet was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He began playing cricket at an early age and represented Gujarat at various junior levels. In 2019, he was selected for the India Under‑19 Boys’ camp under the guidance of Rahul Dravid and participated in the U19 Challenger Trophy.
Domestic career
[edit]Patel made his first-class debut in October 2024 and quickly became a regular all-rounder for Gujarat. He played a key role in the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy, helping Gujarat reach the semi-finals.
Some of his notable performances include:
- Scored 121 against Uttarakhand in January 2025.
- Scored 103 and took 2/37 against Saurashtra in the quarter-final.[1][2]
- Scored 79* in the semi-final against Kerala, helping Gujarat recover from a top-order collapse.[3][4]
- Scored 55 & 51* and took 2/4 against Himachal Pradesh.
- Scored 61 & 82 and took 3/26 against Rajasthan.[5]
He ended the season with 661 runs and several wickets, establishing himself as a key all-rounder for Gujarat.
Playing style
[edit]Jaymeet Patel is known for his calm temperament under pressure and his ability to anchor innings. As a bowler, his left-arm medium pace provides control and breakthroughs in crucial middle overs. His all-round ability adds balance and depth to the Gujarat side.
