Dr. Jane Yip
[edit]Dr. Jane Yip is an Australian neuroscientist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) known for her interdisciplinary work in neuropharmacology, autism spectrum disorders, and applied behavior analysis (ABA). She is the founder and clinical director of Autism Parent Care, a center that integrates neuroscience and behavioral science to support individuals with autism and their families.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Yip earned her Ph.D. in neuropharmacology from the University of Newcastle, Australia. She completed postdoctoral training at Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she focused on brain circuitry underlying neurological disorders such as autism, schizophrenia, and depression.
Career
[edit]Dr. Yip has held research positions at institutions including Boston University, where she contributed to studies on GABAergic dysfunction in autism. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on topics related to neurobiology and behavioral neuroscience.
In addition to her research, Yip is a practicing behavior analyst in Carmel, Indiana. She founded Autism Parent Care, a clinical center that combines brain mapping technologies with ABA therapy to treat individuals with autism. The center also provides resources and support for parents and caregivers.
Yip is involved in international outreach projects aimed at promoting the rights of individuals with mental disabilities. She is a member of the Association for Behavior Analysis International and has worked on initiatives aligned with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to advance recognition of neurodiversity.
Research and Contributions
[edit]Dr. Yip's research focuses on the intersection of neuroscience and behavioral science. She has investigated the role of GABAergic neurotransmission in autism, particularly the expression of glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) enzymes in the cerebellum. Her work has contributed to understanding the neurobiological underpinnings of autism spectrum disorders.
Yip has also explored the use of quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG) to assess brain function in individuals with autism. Her studies suggest that ABA interventions can lead to measurable changes in brain activity, supporting the use of qEEG as a tool for evaluating treatment efficacy.
Published Works
[edit]Dr. Jane Yip is the author of Burnout in the Age of Overload: In Support of the Workforce, a book that examines the challenges of burnout in modern work environments. The publication offers insights and practical strategies aimed at supporting workforce well-being.
In addition to this book, Dr. Yip has contributed to numerous scholarly articles and edited volumes in the fields of neuroscience and behavioral health. Her interdisciplinary work integrates neuroscience research with applied behavioral interventions, demonstrating her commitment to advancing mental health outcomes through evidence-based practices.
