Indian Bengalis ( ভারতীয় বাঙালি ) refer to the people of West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Tripura, Jharkhand and East Bihar in India whose mother tongue is Bengali. The history of this ethnic group is about 4500 years old. Bengalis are the second largest ethnic group in India. Therefore, from ancient times and since the time of independence, the contribution of the Bengalis to Indian politics, social policy, education, fine arts, science and technology, philosophy, medicine, painting, music, film, sports, and space is undeniable. The Indian Bengalis has created a historical document by leaving unforgettable achievements in the spread and reform of several religions in India. Above all, this nation has made an important contribution to the formation of Bengali language and literature.
