Zulf Pirzado
[edit]Imam Buksh Pirzado, known professionally as Zulf Pirzado was a respected Sindhi journalist, poet, and progressive intellectual. He worked for more than three decades in prominent Sindhi-language newspapers, contributing significantly to the field of journalism in Sindh. [1]
Early Life and Education
[edit]Zulf Pirzado was born in 1960 in the village of Balhreji near Larkana, Sindh. He later moved to Karachi and graduated from NGV High School. [2]
Career
[edit]Pirzado began his journalism career in the 1980s. He served in various editorial roles at leading Sindhi newspapers, including Daily Awami Awaz, Pukkar, Sindh, and Khabroon. [edit]Apart from journalism, Pirzado was a poet and a reader of revolutionary and classical literature. His poems and essays appeared in various Sindhi-language newspapers and literary journals. In the 1980s, he performed as a singer with the group "Voices" before dedicating himself entirely to journalism.

[edit]He belonged to a large family, with seven brothers and three sisters. Colleagues and friends remember him as a humble and community-oriented person.
Death and Legacy
[edit]Zulf Pirzado passed away on January 28, 2024. His death was widely mourned in Sindhi journalistic and literary circles. The Sindh Journalists Council held a memorial in January 2025 to commemorate his contributions.
