House of Karmazanashvili
[edit]The House of Karmazanashvili is an ancient noble family from the highlands of Georgia, historically holding the title of *Eristavi* (dukes) in the Ksani Valley. Renowned for their political influence and martial traditions, the family is believed to descend from Circassian origins.[1] They were known for their fiercely proud and strikingly beautiful women, described in Turkish, Persian, and Russian chronicles as tall, small-waisted, with furrowed eyebrows, large dark eyes, and long chestnut hair.[2] Their resilience and independence were emblematic of the mountainous Georgian spirit.
Official records about the family were largely erased after the Sovietization of Georgia and the fall of the Georgian kingdom.[3]
