Hotep is the debut studio album by Blue Iverson, an alias of British musician Dean Blunt. It was released on April 11, 2017, through Blunt's World Music label. Prior to its release on streaming services, it was available as a download on file hosting service MediaFire, as well as an upload on YouTube.[1]

Pitchfork’s Patric Fallon felt that many aspects of Hotep, such as its all-female vocalists and the “femininity” present in tracks such as “Brown Grrl”, are commentary on how Blunt sees gender relations in African-American culture. This theory was supported by a panel Blunt had given the previous year, in which he remarked, “We’ve got to question everything we’ve been told about us being black […] There’s a lot of homophobia, there’s a lot of dominance in it… Within the black movement there’s a lot of dominance over women...That has to be addressed first.”[2]
