Hanshi Shaswat Kumar is an Indian martial artist recognized for his expertise in traditional karate and kobudo. He serves as the Indian representative for Senkoukai Karate and is associated with the Watanabe Shotokan Karate Federation. Kumar has completed the 100-Man Kumite and holds the title of Hanshi, a senior rank in karate.

Martial arts career

Kumar began training in martial arts at an early age, focusing on karate and kobudo. Over the years, he has participated in numerous demonstrations and competitions across India. He successfully completed the 100-Man Kumite, an intense karate endurance test involving 100 consecutive sparring matches.[1]

He is noted for his speed and technical skill, as demonstrated in his backfist speed record performances.[2][3]

Kumar represents Senkoukai Karate in India and is affiliated with the International Budo Karate Association (IBKA) Japan.[4] In 2025, he was appointed as the official representative of the International Martial Arts Referee Organization (IMARO) in India.[5]
