Hamish Dewar (September 19, 1937, in Dumfries - April 9, 2024, in Edinburgh) was a lecturer and a researcher at the University of Edinburgh.[1][2] He is credited with creating the first known Quine program written in Atlas Autocode at Edinburgh in the 1960s.[citation needed] He is also credited with creating the Edinburgh Compatible Context Editor and the Edinburgh IMP around the same time.[3][4]
