The GREEN Olympiad is an environmental education initiative launched by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in 1999. Designed as an annual written examination[1], it aims to enhances knowledge and skills amongst students about environment and sustainability issues related to air, biodiversity, climate change, energy, green skills, waste, water, and other contemporary issues. The Olympiad's mission is to cultivate a generation of environmentally conscious individuals equipped to address global sustainability challenges. Celebrating its 26th year in 2025[2], the Olympiad engages over 2,200 schools annually and aligns with national and global goals such as Mission LiFE, NEP, and SDG 4.7. The 2024 edition saw participation from around 120,000 students, with 32,000 earning merit or distinction certificates. Held on Earth Day, the felicitation ceremony recognized young environmental champions and highlighted the role of youth in shaping a greener, more sustainable future.
