Gopinath Ganesh Talwalkar was the editor of Anand magazine for children and a renowned children's writer. Talwalkar was born on November 29, 1907. He was a very important and influential personality in Marathi children's literature. Even though he handled various poetic forms like Kanika (small poems), Khandakavya (narrative poems), and children's poems, he didn't gain fame through them. He wrote novels such as Aakashmandir, Chhayaprakash, and Nandita, a critical appreciation called Dnyaneshwari Teel Saundaryavishwa, and many books for children. Some of his writings were done under the pseudonym 'Gopinath'.

Nanaji from the popular 'Balodyan' program on All India Radio was none other than Gopinath Talwalkar. Talwalkar was the head of the children's section at the Pune center. He organized 'Balodyan', a program for children. The beautiful blend of entertainment and enlightenment, along with the participation of child artists, made 'Balodyan' very popular in those days. Besides children's literature, he also wrote for adult literacy. Talwalkar's children's literature presented a new view of the world from a child's perspective. His stories and poems explained the joy of nature, the fun of games, and the sweetness of life to children.

Specifically, his writing focused on the moral education of children, but it also entertained them at the same time. The magazine Anand was started in 1906 by Vasudev Govind Apte. After Apte, Gopinath Talwalkar, and then editor Shyamala Shirolkar, continued the magazine's journey under their editorship. Gopinath Talwalkar was the editor of this magazine for 35 years. Gopinath Talwalkar passed away on June 7, 2000.
