Draft:Funktasy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • Comment: Well done on creating the draft, and it may potentially meet the relevant requirements (including WP:GNG, WP:NCORP) but presently it is not clear that it does.
As you may know, Wikipedia's basic requirement for entry is that the subject is notable. Essentially subjects are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject. To properly create such a draft page, please see the articles ‘Your First Article’, ‘Referencing for Beginners’ and ‘Easier Referencing for Beginners’.
Please note that many of the references are not from sources that are considered reliable for establishing notability and should be removed (including blogs, company websites, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Spotify etc).
The draft does not appear to show that the subject has any notability beyond the average coverage in trade publications for similar corporations (see WP:ROTM).
Also, if you have any connection to the subject, including being the subject (see WP:AUTOBIO) or being paid, you have a conflict of interest that you must declare on your Talk page (to see instructions on how to do this please click the link).
Please familiarise yourself with these pages before amending the draft. If you feel you can meet these requirements, then please make the necessary amendments before resubmitting the page. It would help our volunteer reviewers by identifying, on the draft's talk page, the WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject.
It would also be helpful if you could please identify with specificity, exactly which criteria you believe the page meets (eg "I think the page now meets WP:NCORP criteria #3, because XXXXX").
Once you have implemented these suggestions, you may also wish to leave a note for me on my talk page and I would be happy to reassess. Cabrils (talk) 01:33, 28 February 2025 (UTC)

The label actively supports emerging and established talent across various genres, maintaining a strong presence in the electronic, hip-hop, and pop music scenes.

History

[edit]

Funktasy was founded in 2010 by Canadian music producer Hoss[1] as a response to the lack of opportunities for independent artists in the traditional music industry. After facing repeated rejections from major labels, Hoss decided to take matters into his own hands, launching Funktasy Records alongside the release of his debut EP, Without You. With minimal industry knowledge and limited funds, he took on the challenge of the journey to build Funktasy from the ground up, determined to transform it into a global powerhouse in the music industry.

In 2017, Funktasy underwent a major rebranding, expanding beyond its record label roots to launch Funktasy Magazine. Initially conceived as a web blog to promote the label and its artists, the magazine quickly gained traction. Within its first year, it began attracting a growing readership, leading to the recruitment of editors and writers to expand its scope, enhance diversity, and elevate content quality. Over time, Funktasy Magazine evolved into a full-fledged digital publication, covering music, fashion, entertainment, and pop culture, with exclusive interviews and industry insights.

The label's mission is to bring both domestic and international artists into the mainstream music industry.

Equipped with in-house studio facilities for production, mixing, and mastering in Montreal, Toronto, and Los Angeles, Funktasy has become a powerhouse for high-quality music production. In 2021, Funktasy's release "Drunken State" by KiVeli reached #3 on the Indigenous Music Countdown,[2] marking a significant milestone for both the artist and the label. Another KiVeli release, "Fall" later reached the top 10 spot on the same countdown,[3] solidifying the band's reputation as one of Canada's most promising pop/country acts.

Funktasy's A&R team consists of members from around the world, working closely with international artists on the Funktasy roster to craft a distinctive and market-ready sound that aligns with the label's brand identity.
