The Florida Coalition for Higher Education (FCHEP) in Prison is an initiative of University of Central Florida. FCHEP is a statewide network of organizations that provide high quality educational pathways to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people. The mission of FCHEP is to promote the University of Central Florida as a resource for prison education, while expanding existing programs within the university. Organizations within the coalition include:

The Florida Prison Education Project (FPEP) works alongside FCHEP to operate Books Behind Bars, an initiative that provides access to books to incarcerated individuals. According to FPEP, the initiative has provided access to over 35,000 books to prisons across the State of Florida [1]. The Books Behind Bars initiative donates books on a quarterly basis to an average of thirteen institutions in 2025.
