From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fernando "Nano" Sosa (born August 30, 1974, in Córdoba, Argentina) is an Argentine cartoonist, comics writer, and cultural promoter. He is best known for his work in the graphic arts and for his civic activism in promoting national legislation to support the Argentine comics and graphic novel industry.

Career

[edit]

Sosa began publishing independent comics in the 1990s. He has been a consistent voice in promoting Argentine graphic culture and comic art through various projects, exhibitions, and editorial efforts. His work spans editorial cartoons, graphic storytelling, and participation in cultural festivals.

In 2014, he played a key role in the proposal of a national bill to foster the development of the comics sector in Argentina, inspired in part by international initiatives like the UK's Comics Literacy Awareness (CLAw) program. The draft law aimed to recognize comics as a cultural good and educational tool.[1][2]

Cultural impact

[edit]

Sosa has been acknowledged by both local and national media as a leading figure in the promotion of the comics medium. In 2014, the newspaper La Voz del Interior highlighted the efforts led by Sosa to introduce legislative change in support of local comics creators.[3]

His work has been catalogued in international comic art databases such as Tebeosfera and Lambiek Comiclopedia.
