Faustina Fynn-Nyame is a Ghanaian-British nurse and human rights activist.[1] She is the Executive Director of Children’s Investment Fund Foundation Africa (CIFF).[1][2][3]
Victoria Fynn Nyame was Born in Ghana, Faustina's family migrated to the UK at the age of seven. She began her career as a nurse, a role that has had a significant impact on her. Over 17 years experience in various senior leadership roles in UK, USA, Sub Saharan Africa, Asia and Latin America[4]
Early life and education
[edit]Fynn-Nyame was born in Ghana. She immigrated to the United Kingdom at the age of 7 where she spent most her of life. Fynn-Nyame studied her Bachelor's degree in Nursing at Middlesex University from 1995 to 1999.[1][2]
Career
[edit]Fynn-Nyame is a nurse. She is also the Executive Director of Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) in Africa where she advocates for women and girls’ rights in West and East Africa.[1][2][3] Fynn-Nyame used to be the Director of the Women’s Health Project at Population Services International (PSI), where she managed PSI’s safe abortion programs in 25 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.[3] Before working at PSI, she was the Country Director of Marie Stopes Kenya.[3] She also started Marie Stopes Ghana[3], and worked as a Nurse Manager at the Diana Princess of Wales Centre for Reproductive Medicine.[3]
As the Executive Director for Africa at CIFF, Faustina leads the foundation’s regional strategy, cultivates strategic partnerships across the continent, and oversees CIFF’s investment portfolio in Africa.
Faustina oversees a $360 million investment portfolio which includes Child Health and Development, Nutrition, Neglected Tropical Diseases, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Climate, and Adolescent Reproductive Health
Beyond her professional achievements, she is a dedicated advocate for women’s and girls’ rights. She has been instrumental in influencing policy reforms that expand access to reproductive health services in both West and East Africa. Passionate about empowering young girls, she champions initiatives that enhance their health, education, and economic prospects, envisioning a future where they can thrive and shape their own destinies.[5]
Awards and Recognition
[edit]Advance Media honored Fynn-Nyame as one of the top 100 most influential African women in 2021.[1][2]
Faustina’s dedication to developing future leaders is reflected in her advocacy work and mentorship programs. Her significant contributions to the sector have earned her widespread recognition, including being named one of the Top 100 Influential African Women in 2021 by Advance Media.[6]
