The Fateh Squad is a specialized unit within the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a militant organization active in Pakistan's Balochistan province.
Background
[edit]The unit was established in May 2021 and named after Fateh Qambrani, a BLA member who was killed in a 2018 operation. The Fateh Squad is involved in armed operations, primarily targeting Pakistani military and security forces. It is known for participating in high-profile incidents, including the 2024 Operation Herof and the 2025 hijacking of the Jaffar Express train. The BLA advocates for greater autonomy or independence for Balochistan and is designated a terrorist organization by Pakistan and several other countries.[1]
Unlike the BLA's Majeed Brigade, which is known for suicide attacks, the Fateh Squad specializes in high-intensity urban warfare, complex assaults, and follow-up operations. Their tactics often involve direct combat, storming military bases, convoys, and security posts following initial explosions or ambushes.[2]
