Eltuu Muthaa is an upcoming 2025 Indian Kannada-language thriller drama film directed by Raa Surya and produced by High5 Studios. The film explores themes of tradition, grief, and conflict in a Coorgi village, where two funeral drummers with a fractured past are forced to confront their shared trauma.

Plot

Set in the mist-covered hills of Kodagu, *Eltuu Muthaa* tells the story of Eltu and Mutta, two traditional funeral drummers estranged by a tragic incident in their past. Their lives, bound by ancient ritual, unravel further when a suspicious death disturbs their remote village. As the tension between them intensifies, secrets resurface, and cultural responsibilities collide with personal guilt. The film examines themes of memory, identity, and the burden of unresolved history.

Production

The film was directed by Raa Surya in his directorial debut. It was shot over 50 days in the Kodagu district of Karnataka, with the final schedule completed in Bengaluru.[1] The narrative is rooted in the traditional practice of funeral drumming, a fading cultural element from the region. Cinematography was handled by Meiyappa Bhaskar, with editing by K Yesu. Music was composed by Prasanna Keshava KS.

The official teaser premiered at Renukamba Preview Theatre in Bengaluru and received appreciation for its atmospheric tone and cultural authenticity.[2]
