Elizabeth "Bizzie" Frost FRPS FDPS is a Kenya-born British journalist, author and photographer. She lived in Saudi Arabia as an expat from 1984-2015 and wrote about her experiences in two books. Even though it was strictly forbidden for women to work in Saudi Arabia at the time, she continued working in photography (for schools and weddings) and journalism, writing for the Saudi Gazette[1] and Arab News, the only two English-language newspapers in the country.
Personal life
[edit]Frost grew up in the Kericho, Kenya, and went to boarding school in Belgium. After graduating, she went on to train as a nurse in the UK, where she first learned how to ride a motorbike. After a sabbatical in 1976, starting with going on the Hippie Trail to India through Afghanistan and Iran, she met her future husband Richard "Frosty" Frost on a family visit back in Kenya. They got married in 1978 and had two children, Dusko and Chania. Frost then changed careers and started as a freelance journalist and photographer in Nairobi. In 1984, Richard took up an offer to work as a airline captain for Saudi Arabian Airlines.
After an operation on her spinal chord left her partly paralyzed at age 45, the couple bought a Harley Davidson Road King, nicknamed Maridadi (Swahili for beautiful), and toured much of Saudi Arabia and the surrounding countries for 10 years until Richard's retirement. They now live between London and Vipingo, Kenya.
