'''Elizabeth A. Bell''' (29 May 1954 - ) is an award-winning cultural historian and author dedicated to the appreciation and conservation of the World Heritage Site of Antigua Guatemala since 1969.

===Career===
Elizabeth Bell was born in Burlingame and grew up in Palo Alto, California. Bell started assistant teaching at the age of 9 years old with the Head Start Program at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Palo Alto, California. She moved to Antigua Guatemala in 1969 and, at the age of 15 years old, began teaching English as a Second Language to junior high school students at Colegio Santa Familia. Over a period of 25 years, she taught ESL, Social Studies and Guatemalan Art History at various high schools and universities including Instituto San Ignacio, Colegio Boston, Colegio Americano de Guatemala, Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala and Universidad Rafael Landívar in Guatemala.
In 1978, she co-authored her first book “Antigua Guatemala” and continues to author books about the colonial capital today.
Between 1979-1986, she worked at the Consejo Nacional Para La Protección de La Antigua Guatemala (CNPAG) in charge of publications and pioneering educational programs to create an awareness of the cultural importance of Antigua Guatemala as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1979, number 65) with 10,000 schoolchildren a year.
Since 1992, she has been dedicated to professional Cultural Tourism in Guatemala through her company, Antigua Tours, which has also been active in improving the quality of life in the UNESCO World Heritage Site for many residents through sustainable tourism. She has contributed to the preservation of cultural activities and the restoration of colonial paintings at the Colonial Museum and San José Catedral in Antigua.
===Family===
Bell married her first husband, Julio Ricardo Aceituno González, in 1973. They had one son, Julio Ricardo Aceituno Bell, before she widowed in 1974. In 1976, she married her second husband, Thomas Ludwig Long, and had one son, Alexander Adam Long, in 1977, before she divorced in 1979.

Bell has received many honors and awards over the decades including:
*1998 - “Personalidad Antigüeña de la Semana” awarded by the Mayor of Antigua Guatemala, Victor Hugo del Pozo, and the Honorable City Council of La Antigua Guatemala.
*1998 - “Honor al Mérito” awarded by the Mayor of Antigua Guatemala, Victor Hugo del Pozo, and the Honorable City Council of La Antigua Guatemala.
*2000 – “Reconocimiento por alto grado de colaboración humano y material, reflejando de esta forma el cariño, devoción y la fe inquebrantable hacia las veneradas imágenes tanto dentro y fuera de la época cuaresmal.” given by the Hermandades de la Consagrada Imagen de Nuestro Señor Sepultado y Santísima Virgen de Soledad. *2010 “Keys to the City of Coral Gables, Florida” by the Mayor of the City, the Honorable Mr. Donald Slesnick.
*2011: “Orden Diego de Porres en Grado de Gran Venera” given by Consejo Nacional Para La Protección de La Antigua Guatemala (CNPAG) for her tireless work during 42 years of making La Antigua Guatemala known through her many books and conferences and her constant activities for the conservation of the city and its heritage.

Bell has contributed to numerous newspaper publications, radio and television programs, articles, and blogs as well as collaborating at workshops, films, lectures and tours of the city’s monuments since 1978. Her articles have also been published in “The Revue” (2010-2023) and Qué Pasa (2023-) magazines and on-line.
