Plot summary
[edit]In Eclipsar, the bioweapon NYX-1427, designed as a silent and unstoppable killer, escapes containment following a laboratory break-in. The ensuing outbreak decimates cities and transforms people into malevolent entities. Andy Solbright, an ordinary teenager, finds himself thrust into survival as society collapses around him. As he searches for his missing girlfriend and other survivors, Andy uncovers that the infection is evolving and that the outbreak may not have been accidental.
Development
[edit]Blake Varnadoe wrote and edited Eclipsar over three months, balancing the project with his middle school education.[2] He managed the formatting and publishing process independently with the support of his family. The novel was self-published on April 5, 2025.[3]
Reception
[edit]The novel received regional media coverage and community praise for its intense themes and ambition. On Goodreads, the book holds a 5.00 rating based on early reviews, with readers praising the suspense, horror atmosphere, and pacing.[4]
Author
[edit]Blake Varnadoe is an American author from LaGrange, Georgia. Born in 2012, he began reading at age three and developed an early passion for writing. Following Eclipsar, Varnadoe began work on a crime thriller series titled Lyra Dorne, centering around a serial killer who targets rapists.
