In 2016, the club underwent a rebranding and adopted the name Durham United Football Club to reflect its growing identity and ambition.
In 2018, Durham United entered senior competition by fielding their first adult team in the Wearside League. Over the following seasons, the club built a reputation for disciplined performances and player development. Their efforts culminated in 2025, when they were crowned Wearside League Premier Division champions, earning promotion to the Northern League, a historic step forward in their competitive journey.
