Duran Ahmed Farah is a Somali politician and sports administrator, currently serving as Vice President of the Somali National Olympic Committee (NOCSOM). He previously served in ministerial roles in the Federal Government of Somalia.
Political Career
[edit]Minister of Labour and Social Affairs
[edit]Farah was appointed in October 2020 to lead employment reforms and youth programs, including laying the foundation for a National Job Creation Center.[1]
Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation
[edit]Appointed in April 2021, he led aviation and infrastructure initiatives. In January 2022, he publicly rejected media claims about Somalia’s airspace being handed to a foreign company.[2][3]
Sports Leadership
[edit]Farah served as Somalia’s flagbearer at the 2008 Olympics and was elected Vice President of NOCSOM.[4][5]
