Doron M. Behar (born November 20, 1970, Haifa, Israel) is an Israeli physician and geneticist known for his pioneering work in population genetics, medical genetics, and genomic research. He is the founder and CEO of Igentify, a digital genetics company, and has contributed extensively to research on Jewish genetic ancestry and human evolutionary genomics.

Education

Behar received his:

  • B.Sc. in Medical Sciences (cum laude, 1992)
  • M.D. (cum laude, 1997)
  • Ph.D. in Population Genetics (2005)

All from the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.

Career

He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Intensive Care, and Medical Genetics in Israel.

Behar’s clinical and academic roles have included:

  • CEO of Igentify (2016–present)
  • Chief Scientific Officer of Gene by Gene, Ltd. (2012–2020)
  • Senior Research Scientist at the Estonian Biocentre, University of Tartu
  • Associate Professor of Population Genetics, Institute of Genomics, University of Tartu

He has also served as Principal Investigator in the Genographic Project led by National Geographic.
