DoopL Pty Ltd[1], is an Australian technology company that provides a dual-mode driving education platform, combining on-demand transport with structured driver training. Headquartered in Fitzroy, Victoria, DoopL enables driving instructors to connect with learners through a mobile app and web-based ecosystem. As of 2025, the company operates primarily in Australia, with expansion plans into New Zealand and the United Kingdom. DoopL’s model allows learners to book structured driving lessons or commute-based learning sessions with certified instructors. The platform allows instructors to offer real-time and scheduled lessons, manage their own pricing, and track learner progress, while enabling learners to book driving sessions based on availability, location, and training needs.
History
[edit]DoopL was founded in Melbourne by a team of driving education professionals and software engineers with the vision of modernising the driving lesson industry. The platform was conceived as a response to inefficiencies in traditional driving schools and the lack of integration between ride-sharing and driver education. In 2023, the team began development of the DoopL Instructor App, followed shortly by the Learner App, with the goal of empowering independent instructors to manage their own schedule, pricing, and service areas while also providing a consistent experience for learners.
By 2025, DoopL had launched pilot programs across multiple Australian states, integrated calendar syncing with Google, Apple, and Outlook, and established referral and rewards programs for instructors and learners. The company emphasised regional scalability, allowing legal and operational differences to be managed per state or country.
Platform Features
[edit]DoopL offers a hybrid service model consisting of three booking modes:
- DoopL It (on-demand): Immediate booking with nearby instructors, similar to ride-hailing.
- Plan: Scheduled lessons booked in advance.
- Instructor: Direct bookings with a preferred instructor.
Instructors can manage availability, vehicle details, service areas, and qualifications. Learners can choose instructors based on availability, language, vehicle type (manual or automatic), and location.
The app also includes:
- Built-in assessments and progress tracking
- Real-time route navigation and booking history
- Secure chat and call options between learners and instructors
- Cancellation and rescheduling tools
- Instructor earnings management and payout control
Business Model and Community Approach
[edit]DoopL generates revenue through a service fee deducted from instructor earnings. It also supports instructor-led pricing, giving professionals full control over their rates. The platform facilitates biweekly or monthly payouts and includes an earnings dashboard within the instructor app.
Beyond monetisation, DoopL emphasizes building a collaborative driving education ecosystem. Instructors are invited to join the DoopL Community, where they can exchange insights, share route strategies, and highlight best practices. The company plans to extend this community to learners through regional hubs and a future web application.
Future Plans
[edit]DoopL aims to expand its services internationally and introduce a full-featured web application to complement its mobile offering. Additional planned features include:
- A learner-facing dashboard for long-term driving progress
- Advanced reporting tools for NDIS providers and guardians
- Integration of AI-based route suggestions based on learner performance
- Region-specific licensing and compliance modules
DoopL is also exploring partnerships with regulatory agencies to streamline instructor verification and driver license preparation, especially for specialised learners under NDIS programs.
