Diriba Eticha Tujuba is an Ethiopian academic and university administrator. He has served as the President of Gambella University, a public institution located in Gambella, Ethiopia, since October 2023.[1]
Education
[edit]Diriba Eticha Tujuba earned a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics with a specialization in leadership communication from Andhra University in India in 2019. He holds a Master of Arts in English from Adama University (2012) and a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language and Literature from Hawassa University (2005). He also pursued an MA in Public Administration at Andhra University concurrently with his PhD.[2]
Career
[edit]Tujuba has held several academic and administrative positions within Ethiopian higher education institutions. At Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU), he served as Director for Institutional Transformation and Good Governance from 2020 to 2022. He was later appointed CEO of the President’s Office at ASTU, where he oversaw institutional planning and strategic initiatives.[2]
In 2019, he briefly served at the Ethiopian Ministry of Science and Technology as Interim Director for International Relations and Cooperation, contributing to national academic partnerships and international coordination.[2] Prior to 2011, he held roles including College Dean at Top College in Diredawa and Dean for Students Affairs at Sub-Saharan University College in Adama.[2]
Institutional Partnerships
[edit]Under Tujuba’s leadership, Gambella University has established various international collaborations. In January 2024, the university signed a memorandum of understanding with the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) to collaborate on research related to indigenous medicinal plants and communicable diseases.[3]
Further partnerships were initiated with ICCS College of Engineering and Management in Kerala, India,[4] and Hannam University in South Korea, aimed at faculty development and student exchange programs.[5]
