Dinah Lilia Mourise (née Mansour, born October 18, 1980) is a Canadian philanthropist, humanitarian, retired surgeon, criminal investigator, filmmaker and businesswoman.

Early life and family background

When she was a child, Mourise was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, often suffering from hypoglycemia.[1]

Career

Medicine

Mourise studied a bachelor's degree in Biological Literature from the American University of Cairo in New Cairo, Egypt, graduating in 2001.[citation needed] She completed post-graduate general surgery and pathology training at the Faculty of Medicine at the Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, achieving a Master’s Degree in General Surgery Residency and a Doctor of Medicine degree.[citation needed] She holds a PAACS Certificate of Competency in General Surgery from the Harper Memorial Hospital. She also holds a PhD in Clinical Forensic Psychology from Walden University.[citation needed]

After graduating from her general surgery training, Mourise was appointed the Chair of Clinical Medicine at the Port Said Military Hospital in Cairo. Between 2002 and 2005 she volunteered at the Lilian Orphanage.[citation needed] She left Cairo after the 2011 revolution.[citation needed]

In 2022, Mourise announced that she was established a fertility clinic in Niagara, Canada, with the Astra Fertility Group, to be opened in 2023.[citation needed] She has also campaigned for more funding to research diabetes in Canada.[1]

Business and philanthropy

Mourise founded and is Vice President of the cybersecurity and private investigation company OEIS Investigations, Security, and Protection in Ontario, Canada.[2][dead link] She is licensed as a senior criminal investigator in Canada.[1]

Mourise also founded the Canadian non-profit organization Lilia Redemption Foundation in 2015, which supports exploited and enslaved children who have experienced human trafficking.[citation needed] The foundation is based in Canada, but works across countries in North Africa, Dominican Republic, the USA, India, and Brazil.[citation needed] She founded the organisation after she was offered to buy a child for £250 while in Egypt.[citation needed]

In January 2024, Mourise hosted Ugandan delegates to a symposium on the "global crisis of human trafficking in children", including the Deputy Prime Minister Lukia Isanga Nakadama and Ambassador Abbey Walusimbi.[citation needed]

Mourise has also undertaken scholarly research on the experiences of survivors of human organ trafficking.[3]

Politics

In 2018, Mourise stood as a candidate in the 2018 Niagara Region municipal elections in Niagara Falls, Canada. She was the first female nominee for the position of Mayor of Niagara Falls. She did not succeed in the election.[citation needed]

Film

Mourise directed and starred in the film Heart Transplant (2025), which is based on a novel she wrote.[citation needed]
