Dheerendra Gautam (born 22 April 1996) is an Indian actor and lyricist known for his work in Hindi cinema and digital platforms. He earned acclaim for his performance as Vihaan in the 2019 film Bala and later for portraying Ajay in the web series Garmi (2023), directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. In 2025, he appeared as Hari—a close friend of the lead—in the Maddock Films production Bhool Chuk Maaf alongside Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi.

Early life and education

Gautam was born on 22 April 1996 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his postgraduate studies in Mass Media at Kanpur University, where he actively participated in theatre. He wrote and directed a mime act and a street play, winning first prize for mime at a university competition in 2018. He trained with the Kanpur-based group Anukriti Rangmandal. His favourite stage performance was in the play Gagan Damama Bajyo by Piyush Mishra, where he portrayed Batukeshwar Dutt.

Career

In 2019, Gautam relocated to Mumbai and made his film debut in Bala, playing Vihaan, the younger brother of Ayushmann Khurrana’s character. The film was directed by Amar Kaushik and achieved commercial success.[1]

He acted in Ittu Si Baat (2022) under Laxman Utekar’s production house Kathputli Creation, before landing the role of Ajay in the SonyLIV series Garmi (2023), directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia.[2][3]

In 2025, he played Hari in Bhool Chuk Maaf, produced by Maddock Films. While the film’s focus is on Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, Gautam's supporting performance received positive mentions in reviews.[4][5][6]

Other work

As a lyricist, Gautam has written songs such as "Meri Kya Khata" and "Tere Saath" (performed by Maahi, son of singer Shaan), and "Raula Hai" for the film The Networker. He has also appeared in commercials for brands including Paytm, Ultratech Cement, JioMart, PNB Housing Finance, and PayNearby Micro ATM, and featured in a promo for The Big Picture hosted by Ranveer Singh.
