Concrete Building of the Year is a juried competition in Estonia. The competition aims to raise the image of concrete and to contribute to the development of concrete architecture, concrete technology and concrete construction in Estonia.[1] Although the title of the competition contains the word "building", also non-building structures can take part in the competition.[2]

The competition began in 2000, when the Association of Construction Material Producers of Estonia (in Estonian: Eesti Ehitusmaterjalide Tootjate Liit, EETL) and cement manufacturing company Kunda Nordic Cement organised the first competition. Since 2004, the Concrete Association of Estonia (founded in 2004) and EETL have organised the competition together. The competition aims to find and highlight structures whose beauty and efficient and economical implementation demonstrate the advantages of concrete as a building material.[1]

The main prize goes to the author of the winning idea. The winning structure's client, designer, builder, formwork supplier, concrete contractor and concrete supplier will be honoured. If necessary, the competition jury will award special prizes.[2]

In 2024, the competition was won by the Kalev Yacht Club marina building on the left bank of the Pirita River estuary in Tallinn. The architect of the building is Ülar Mark.[3]

One of special awards was handed to the sound sculpture „ONKAI“ in Japan, which was created by the German sound sculptor Lukas Kühne. Chairman of the jury Aadu Kana pointed: “The sound sculpture ‘ONKAI’ is sculptor Lukas Kühne’s fourth sound sculpture, located in the Japanese mountains, on the terraces of old rice fields. It is particularly significant that a sound sculpture created for Japan showcases the skills, quality, and dedication of Estonian masters at the highest level”.[3]
