Christina Assi is a Lebanese photojournalist who works for Agence France-Presse.
Early life
[edit]Christina Assi grew up in Lebanon, and she and her family moved to Doha in 2005. She earnt a journalism degree from Notre Dame University.[1]
Career
[edit]On October 13 2023, she and several other journalists were covering the Lebanon-Israel border conflict when they were fired on by Israeli forces. The strike killed video journalist Issam Abdallah and wounded Assi. As a result of her injuries, her right leg was amputated.[2][3][4]
In July 2024, she participated in the Summer Olympics torch relay, in Paris.[2][4]
In December 2024, she was named by the BBC one of their 100 Women.[3]
