Comment: From the sources available (some of which are dead), my understanding is that the temple is notable due to the Tourism Board's investment of INR 314 crore rupees in a project related to the temple. Apart from that, there is barely any myths, legends, or beliefs associated with the temple that is covered in the available sources. Please delete the dead links and resubmit with sentences which can be cited. Astra Travasso (talk) 14:21, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: The first three links are dead; nevertheless, they were all referring to the same event, and are from sister websites. Astra Travasso (talk) 14:14, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: This is probably a notable temple, but it's not yet quite clear from the article. Several of the sources are either not reliable, independent sources (e.g. Tripadvisor) or they are not about the temple itself (e.g. ref 7 about the new districts). Can you find sources such as books or more substantial coverage of the temple in newspapers? It would help our volunteer reviewers if you could identify, on the draft's talk page, the WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject. It would also be helpful if you could please identify with specificity, exactly which criteria you believe the page meets (eg "I think the page now meets WP:GNG criteria #2, because XXXXX"). Chamatkari Shri Hanuman Mandir Jamsawli is a historic Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, located in the village of Jamsawli in Pandhurna District, Madhya Pradesh, India.[1][2] According to local belief, the temple is renowned for its miraculous idol of Hanuman, from whose navel water is said to continuously flow.[3]
History and significance
[edit]According to local tradition and temple lore, this site is believed to be where Hanumanji rested under a peepal tree while carrying the Sanjeevani herb to revive Lakshmana during the events of the Ramayana.[4][5] Another popular belief is that when thieves attempted to remove the statue, it miraculously laid down and became immovable, reinforcing its significance for devotees.[6]
Features
[edit]The temple is considered a Siddha Dham, attracting devotees from across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and surrounding states.[7] In March 2023, a snake was reportedly seen appearing during the evening Aarti, an event that was covered in the media and viewed by worshippers as a sign of the temple’s spiritual significance.[8]
Architecture and Facilities
[edit]The temple includes separate entryways for men and women and reflects traditional Hindu temple architecture. The managing trust provides basic amenities such as accommodation and resting spaces for pilgrims.
Worship and Festivals
[edit]Daily Aarti takes place at 5:30 AM and 5:30 PM, with Tuesdays and Saturdays being especially popular for devotees. Festivals celebrated at the temple include Hanuman Jayanti, Rama Navami, Kartik Purnima, and Guru Purnima. The temple attracts devotees from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and nearby states.
During Hanuman Janmotsav 2025, over 300,000 devotees participated in rituals, received blessings from Hanuman, and partook in the bhandara organized within the temple premises.[9]
Location and Accessibility
[edit]The Chamatkari Shri Hanuman Mandir is located in Jamsawli (Sawli No.1), approximately 66 km from Nagpur, 62 km from Chhindwara, and about 8 km from the Sausar Railway Station. The site is well connected by road, with regular bus and taxi services available. Its coordinates are approximately 21°36'34" N, 78°46'49" E. The area was previously part of Chhindwara District until the establishment of Pandhurna District in October 2023.[10]
Future Developments
[edit]In March 2023, the then–Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the construction of “Hanuman Lok” near the temple, inspired by the Mahakal Corridor in Ujjain, to upgrade infrastructure and facilities for pilgrims.[11][12] According to a June 2024 report, the first phase of the project is expected to be completed within 18 months.[13] Earlier, in April 2023, reports announced the plans for this large-scale project in Jamsawli.[14]
Trust and Governance
[edit]In early 2024, the Chamatkari Shri Hanuman Mandir Trust faced internal changes when some members presented a no-confidence motion against its then–Chairman, citing alleged mismanagement and lack of transparency. The Madhya Pradesh High Court quashed the Tahsildar-level order dismissing the motion and directed that the matter be submitted to the District Registrar (Public Trust).[15]
In March 2025, a new executive committee was elected and approved by the District Collector.
