Cerritos on Wheels (COW) is a city-operated fixed-route transit service in Cerritos, California. It serves the general public on two bi-directional loop routes, connecting over 180 locations within the city including parks, schools, shopping centers, Cerritos College, and civic facilities. COW buses run hourly, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,[1] and are wheelchair and bicycle accessible.

History

Established in 1993, the service name stemmed from a naming contest, referencing Cerritos' former identity as “Dairy Valley.” Funding comes from local Proposition A and C allocations from the L.A. County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro).

Routes

COW operates two loop routes—Route 1 and Route 2—each divided into segments A, B, and C, [2]which loop in opposite directions. Key service points include Cerritos Towne Center, Cerritos College, Cerritos Civic Center, Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, Cerritos Library, and regional bus transfer points. Passengers can transfer to regional services at select stops, including:

  • LA Metro
  • Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA)
  • Long Beach Transit
  • Artesia Transit
  • Norwalk Transit

Fares

  • One-way fare: $0.50 (cash only)
  • Monthly pass: $20[3]

Monthly passes are available online or in person at City Hall; online orders placed after business hours are fulfilled the next business day.

  • Holidays observed: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (and the following day), Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day
