Background

[edit]

As the Golden Horde began slowly disintegrating after waves of Timurid invasions, the Circassians and other peoples of the Northern Caucasus region began taking advantage of the situation.

Conquests

[edit]

After Inal organized his campaign to the east he establishes the Kabardia province which was named after his general, ''Kabard''. Inal began a new wave of conquests and invasions against the Turkic neighbors to the north in 1438. After the conquest of Kabarda region Inal would begin his campaigns against the Mountain Turks and Nakhs to the south and east. After this the Circassians had completely drove out the Turks north of the Kuban River along the Ten River and expanded the borders of Circassia to modern-day Azov.

Mentions by foreign sources

[edit]

John III describes that at the turn of the XIV and XV centuries, Circassia expanded its borders to the north to the mouth of the Don, and he notes that "the city and port of Tana is located in the same country in Upper Circassia, on the Don River, which separates Europe from Asia".[citation needed] His description matches with Inal's expansions.
