Biography

[edit]

Calogero Peri was born on 16 June 1953 in Salemi, in the province of Trapani, into a devout Catholic family. After attending local schools, he entered the Capuchin Order, making his temporary profession in 1970 and solemn vows in 1976. He was ordained a priest on 9 December 1978.

He pursued higher studies in philosophy and theology, obtaining a Licentiate in Philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, and completed further academic training in Paris. Over the following decades, he worked primarily in the fields of teaching and formation within the Capuchin community and the wider Church in Sicily.

As bishop, he has been active in promoting culture, spiritual formation, the preservation of Church heritage, and support for local communities.
