History

[edit]

The company founders have been crafting chocolate for approximately 15 years[1] prior to launching their own brand. Transitioning from hobbyists to professional chocolatiers, they inaugurated their own production facility in San Rafael,[2][3] California. Their debut as vendors occurred at the San Francisco Chocolate Salon in 2024, marking their formal entry into the artisan chocolate market.

Products

[edit]

Cacao Regina offers a range of chocolate bars characterized by minimal ingredients and a focus on single-origin cacao. Their product lineup includes a variety of two ingredient dark, dark milk, flavored, and 100% bars with origins from Peru, Ecuador, and Tanzania.

All their products are gluten-free, non-GMO, and free from soy and preservatives. The company emphasizes sustainable sourcing, utilizing cacao from cooperatives like Kokoa Kamili,[4] which supports smallholder farmers in Tanzania.

Their dark milk chocolate[5][6] is a milk chocolate with a higher cacao content than the average milk chocolate[7] bar. Their Gianduia bar[8] is made from hazelnuts grown in Oregon.

Facilities

[edit]

The company's production facility houses their bean-to-bar operations, where they manage the entire chocolate-making process, from roasting to molding.

Distribution

[edit]

Cacao Regina's products are available online, at local farmer's markets, and a growing number of retail locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.[9][10][11]

Awards and Recognition

[edit]

Cacao Regina has received multiple awards for its products, including Gold for Best Dark Chocolate and Best Milk Chocolates.[12] Further awards can be found on the San Francisco Chocolate Salon[13] Fall 2024[14] and Spring 2025[15] award pages.
