Bring the Paint is a biennial international street art festival held in Leicester, England. Established in 2017 by the arts organisation Graffwerk, the festival showcases large-scale murals and public artworks created by artists from around the world. It has contributed to Leicester's reputation as a destination for urban art.
History
[edit]The inaugural Bring the Paint festival took place in 2017, transforming Leicester's city centre into an open-air gallery. Subsequent editions were held in 2019, 2022, and 2024, each expanding in size and scale. The 2024 festival featured more than 30 new murals and included artists from countries including Canada, Australia, and Brazil.[1]
Programme
[edit]In addition to mural painting, Bring the Paint offers a range of activities such as artist-led workshops, exhibitions, live music performances, guided street art tours, and family-oriented events. The festival also includes opportunities for local artists to take part and develop their practice.[2]
Locations
[edit]Festival events are centred around key locations in Leicester, including The Mill by Graffwerk, the Haymarket Shopping Centre, and the LCB Depot. Additional murals are created across the city, contributing to its growing collection of street art.[3]
