"Blade of Grass" is a 2025 song by Lady Gaga, originally released on her studio album Mayhem.[1][2]

Composition

[edit]

The song was inspired by the relationship and proposal between Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky. She said in an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music that when her boyfriend Michael Polansky asked her how he should propose, she told him "Just take a blade of grass and wrap it around my finger."[3][4][5]

Reception

[edit]

Slant Magazine said the song "aims for power-ballad heights but never quite takes off in the way that, say, the Bruno Mars duet ... does".[6] The Guardian said "Blade of Grass" is "smartly tacked on to the end of an otherwise dance-focused album".[7]
