Bison bonasus bonasus , the Central European bison , Polish bison (due to its greater occurrence in Poland than in Germany) or Plains bison is a subspecies of the European bison discovered by Linnaeus in 1758. It is the only subspecies of European bison that is not extinct. It formerly ranged from Germany to Ukraine.
Distribution Germany , Belarus , Poland and Romania ( Southern Carpathians )
